I have been lucky enough to stay at the Châteaut twice (pre and post renovation) and I could not recommend it enough. The château is absolutely stunning to look at and is surrounded by beautiful countryside. The sunsets are breathtaking, and I have spent many an hour sitting on the terrace or in the courtyard taking it all and watching the plentiful nature. So peaceful. The house itself has a brilliant layout with many different settings to relax in. The renovation is fantastic, incredibly high quality and importantly totally in-keeping with the house's original style. Subtle and well thought through design. Also, as someone with pale skin who does not like to get too hot, I can attest to how cool the house is from the thick stone and copious air conditioning. So comfortable to sleep in and avoid the midday heat. The local village, is steeped in history with a beautiful town square and some delicious places to eat and get the morning croissants. We particularly enjoyed the meal and food market on the square over the summer. There is plenty else to do nearby and the scenery is spectacular at every turn. A very special place indeed.

Just a note to say what a fabulous place the Château is. We loved everything about the Château. The location is ideal - a great mix of peace and quiet (just the soothing surround sound of nature) but with close proximity to the picturesque bastide town of Villeréal. Not too close but not too far away to quickly nip into town for provisions etc. The town has all you need from boulangeries and cafés to the cheese and wine shop. We also enjoyed the weekend market for everything from authentic French antiques to local produce. The Château has it all: the moat, the courtyard, the pool, the gym, so many rooms and snugs. The finish on the whole property is second to none - it’s like having a 6-star hotel but to yourself. It’s such a fantastic place for the family; there’s plenty of room for everybody to find their own space but there’s also great communal places such as the kitchen and the games room…There’s so much to explore on just the property, let alone the local area and then beyond to the Dordogne and Bergerac and its surrounds. We could have stayed all summer for sure and that might not have felt enough! Can’t fault it - it’s a fantastic way to enjoy the best of France’s ‘art de vivre’…. All represented / epitomised by the Château.

We had a wonderful stay at the Château! The home has been meticulously restored with gorgeous finishes and thoughtful touches (2 laundry rooms, 2 dishwashers, well-appointed furnishings, etc.) that provide modern comforts without sacrificing the integrity of its historical French roots. There are several spaces for families to convene in and more than enough bedrooms and baths to accommodate a large group comfortably (we had 12 guests, including small children and 2 dogs). The outdoor living was a standout of the property, with the pool and courtyard dining areas being our family favorites. Walking the expansive grounds is a must— keep an eye out for the peacocks at night! Proximity to town made it easy to enjoy the local culture (5-minute drive or easily bike-able). The farmer’s market was incredibly charming with fresh baguettes and vegetables available daily. If you’re not in the mood to cook, there are numerous dining options as well — you truly can’t go wrong! There is plenty to see and do in the general area including castles, the cave museum, kayaking, ATV’s, hot air balloons, and more. Nothing was too far to enjoy. We will be back, as it was a dream experience we won’t soon forget.

We’ve stayed at the Château three times and it never disappoints. Set in a glorious position in the South-West French countryside, it’s spacious, quiet, has brilliant facilities and is close to lots of beautiful bastide towns. We are a family of 4 with two teenage boys and have always enjoyed our time there with friends. On one visit we even came from the UK with our two golden doodles – the added bonus that the Château is incredibly dog friendly! Even though it’s a quiet countryside location it’s really easy to get to and we have tried many modes of transport. We have driven from the UK, flown into Bergerac (with only a 30 min drive the other side) and last year we took the Eurostar and TGV from Paris to Bordeaux (which took only two hours to get across France) and then very easily hired a car at Bordeaux train station. The château itself is beautiful and has been lovingly restored over the past year. It has a large kitchen with all the facilities you would need for a large group of people and lots of reception rooms to gather in, host drinks, play pool, or just watch TV. The bedrooms are spacious, have air conditioning (a life saver during the hot French summers) with luxurious ensuite bathrooms. The games room with table tennis and fully equipped gym are a hit with our sports and fitness mad sons and the large, heated pool has lovely views of the countryside. Locally there are lots of towns and villages to visit. We have so much still to explore in the area and are already looking forward to our visit next year!

We were lucky enough to stay at the Château this summer and it was the perfect place to stay and get away from it all. The château is stunning throughout. Every detail has been thought about and the space feels a perfect mix between luxurious and homely. We've not stayed anywhere before that is so steeped in history whilst having all the latest mod cons. The air conditioning was very welcome. There are lots of formal and informal spaces throughout the house making it suitable for lots of different occasions. We found that the château allowed us to be together very comfortably when we wanted but also had more than enough room to find a quiet space when we needed it too. It is so peaceful and you're surrounded by acres of beautiful countryside, brimming with nature. It is however a great base to explore nearby towns with the bustling Villeréal being only a five-minute drive away. We had a number of delicious meals in various restaurants here. Thanks for a wonderful holiday. We will be back!

I was lucky enough to stay at the Château during summer 2024 with my husband and our three boys ages 14, 12 and 10. It was an absolute delight. The house itself is stunning, a perfect mix of authentic grandeur, with every modern comfort and convenience. There’s a games room, a fully equipped gym, lots of lovely communal spaces, but equally it’s easy to find a quiet corner to relax. My favourite part though is the grounds. Breakfast by the moat was a real treat. My spaniel who also came with us was living his best life swimming in the moat! There is so much wildlife to look at, whiling away the time quietly watching it all was another highlight. The kids loved messing around in the pool and there is lots for them to explore. Thank you, I can’t wait to come back!

My partner and I enjoyed a fabulous stay at the Château this summer, and we’ll definitely be back! The château itself is beyond beautiful, capturing all the authentic charm of its history with a completely modern finish in terms of comfort and facilities. We particularly enjoyed sitting with a glass of wine in the evening and watching for wildlife in the grounds or relaxing by the pool. Such a good base for exploring the region by car, we enjoyed popping to Villeréal every morning for fresh croissants, and for delicious dinners in the evening, then went further afield to kayak down the Dordogne or visit prehistoric caves. Perfect for adult groups and/or families I’d say!
