Price and Availability

Set in the midst of a large noble country estate, once belonging to Princess Napoleon, the Domaine offers something very special indeed! You enter up a long driveway to the crest of the hill with stunning views over the French countryside and into the private courtyard of the Domaine where the main house and cottage are. There is plenty of parking and a delightful gravelled courtyard with a large dining table and seating for 12 easily. The accommodation is split with 4 bedrooms in the main house and 2 bedrooms in the cottage.

The Country House

Originally a Hunting Lodge, the house has been renovated and now provides modern and luxurious living whilst still retaining the charm and character of such a noble property such as the original terracotta tiles, vast exposed wooden beams and thick stone walls. The living areas are large and ideal for family groups. The kitchen is at the heart of the house and an ideal place for foodies to cook together with a large central table. In the Living Room, there are double sofas centred around an open fireplace with majestic chimney. There is a television (with French & English channels) in here as well as a smaller table for board games and playing cards. The house also has a laundry room with washing machine and tumble dryer.

The 4 bedrooms in the main house are set on the first floor with three bath/shower-rooms. All the bedrooms are beautifully decorated with antiques and stunning artwork. The beds are modern and the bedding is of 5 star luxury hotel standard. Each bedroom consists of 2 90cm x 200 cm beds which can be joined to offer a 180cm (Super King) bed.

The Cottage

The cottage is more rustic in feel and offers that bit of independence from the main house whilst just being a few steps across the courtyard from the main house. There is a small Kitchenette and Living Area and then 2 bedrooms upstairs. This is ideally set up as a double (180 cm bed) and a twin bedroom so perfect for a family group. There is also a shower-room.

In addition, there are additional rooms that can be opened on request which include a Fitness Room, Boot Room and Cinema. Please enquire.

It is also possible to add additional services such as everyday cleaning, chef on request, welcome dinner, food delivery and breakfast baskets. Please enquire.

Outside Living

The property is surrounded by beautiful countryside and the views are spectacular. The property is set in grounds of approximately 6 hectares. The swimming pool is set behind the cottage and has a terrace surrounding it with two shades for the heat of the day. There are numerous other quiet areas to escape to around the property as well as many woodland walks throughout the estate. The swimming pool is 10m x 5m. There are plenty of recliners around the pool area. The property has a gas BBQ to enjoy al fresco dining. You can also make use of the table tennis table and petanque to keep all ages entertained.

Location

The villages of Saint-Alvère (4km), Le Bugue (12km) and Vergt (12km) are all close by and offer facilities such as shops, restaurants and bars as well as weekly morning markets. Throughout the summer there are also many special events taking place such as festivals and spectacles. The Dordogne riverside town of Bergerac with its International Airport is just 37km away. It is an ideal holiday home for families and groups in search of tranquillity and privacy whilst being in easy reach of the wealth of interest that the Dordogne has to offer. The Dordogne valley is well known for its abundance of vineyards including Monbazillac, Pecharment and Bergerac AOCs. There are activities to suit all ages and interests, foodies will enjoy the great local restaurants at the heart of France's centre of gastronomic excellence, as well as the wine of AOC Bergerac. The area has been described as the capital of world prehistory, and culture vultures are spoilt for choice with caves, museums and chateaux aplenty.

For those looking for more active active pursuits, the nearest golf course is 7km away, with three other courses within a radius of 30km. There are tennis courts close by as well as many hiking trails. Not to be missed is canoeing on the Dordogne and Vezer rivers which all the family will enjoy and shouldn't be missed.

Getting Here

The Domaine is just a 30 minute drive to Bergerac making it an easy final destination. Bergerac has its own International Airport. Ryanair flies here from London Stansted, Liverpool, Nottingham, and Bristol. British Airways flies into Bergerac from London Gatwick, Southampton, Exeter and Edinburgh. There are also interconnecting flights to Belfast, Glasgow, Dundee and Newcastle with Flybe. Transvania flies to Rotterdam.

The vibrant city of Bordeaux is 1hr 30 minutes away, with a larger International Airport servicing even more UK and Worldwide destinations. In addition, Toulouse Airport is approximately 1hr 30 mins drive to the south - again a large International Airport. The TGV station at Libourne connects with Paris.

The Domaine is mid way between Bergerac and Perigueux and both have a train station with good access into Bordeaux.

We spent the Pentecost weekend with our children and grandchildren, this area is a haven of peace, ideal for recharging your batteries, it's a shame that we couldn't enjoy the swimming pool because of the weather. The owner and his wife are charming, caring, attentive to the requests of their customers, know how to receive (elegant table set on our arrival). Utensils and dishes in very large quantity, great bean-to-cup coffee machine (tasting a good artisanal coffee offered by the owner). The bedding is of super quality, very spacious rooms, tastefully decorated. Impeccable cleanliness. We made a fireplace (too bad for a month of May 😉) but very enjoyable and cozy. The area is very large, wooded, flowery, superb walk to do. The garden furniture is top notch with large parasols, plancha. Everything is done to have a pleasant stay, we highly recommend this area.

We had a very good week at the Domaine. The property is very quiet, in a beautiful site (large garden, beautiful trees...). It is very well equipped: bedding, sheets/towels/tea towels provided as well as shower gel and shampoo, large and well-equipped kitchen, everything is well sized for a group of 12 adults. The rooms are large and well decorated. The owners are charming, available without being intrusive, and have a family history that is interesting to discover. In short, I totally recommend this location

A very friendly welcome. The place is very quiet while still allowing visits to tourist sites. The kitchen is very well equipped. We enjoyed discovering the family history. The family run the nearby Napoleon Museum.
