The private 11m x 5m swimming pool (with safety alarm), edged by decking and loungers, provides a tranquil retreat on warm summer days. The palm-lined garden creates a sense of privacy and calm, while the gated château entrance adds a touch of quiet grandeur. A caretaker/owner is discreetly on site.

The Orangery is a true highlight — a beautiful space with sofas, generous dining area and barbecue, ideal for long lunches that drift into evening. As the sun lowers, the west-facing terrace becomes the perfect spot for sunset dining.

Bicycles are available on request, and with the village just 700m away, morning walks for fresh bread are part of daily life.

Around 700 metres away lies a typical French village with café-bar, butcher and supermarket — all within easy walking distance. Just 13km away is the elegant town of Cognac, world-renowned for its historic distilleries and riverside charm. Spend your days wandering cobbled streets, sampling from celebrated cognac houses, exploring historical sites or drifting along the River Charente by kayak or cruise boat.

The property is ideally placed between La Rochelle Airport which is approximately 90km away and Bordeaux-Merignac Airport which is 130km away.

The house gave us exactly what we were looking for, a wonderful place to relax in the Cognac region. It is attached to a chateau in the village of Burie, but is totally separate and serene. It’s a barn conversion which means it has a huge living area/kitchen giving it a wonderful rustic ambience. We thoroughly enjoyed our week’s stay here and our two dogs loved exploring the gardens, wood and surrounding vineyards. We saw a small family of deer who visited us daily, red squirrels, bats, buzzards, kestrels. The garden was a big plus, including a fig tree which provided us with copious amount of delicious figs for breakfast. Communication with the owner was brilliant and she helped us decide what to do and where to eat in Cognac. There is a good supermarket in Burie, 8 minutes walk away through the vineyard, or 4 minute drive. Cognac is 15 minutes away and Saintes 25 minutes, were both worth visiting. A quiet and tranquil house in a beautiful region.

This holiday home is just stunning. The owners have thought of everything you’ll need and the house is bright, comfortable, and close to local amenities as well as being a short driving distance to Bordeaux, the coast, and lovely French towns. We loved the pool and garden and would absolutely go back.

The house itself is so nicely decorated with peaceful and chic style. The swimming pool is so big that our kids want the same at home! Your discrete presence was also key to take maximum rest and comfort during this week. We sincerely appreciated your perfect balance between your carefulness and your willingness to preserve our intimacy. Looking forward to coming back one day in this beautiful domain.
